Strictly Come Dancing said goodbye to yet another celebrity in tonight's show - however, Shirley Ballas, 63, disagreed with her fellow judges over the dreaded dance-off. Following Saturday night's public vote, Channel 4 newsreader Krishnan Guru-Murthy found himself facing broadcaster Angela Rippon in the bottom two. Krishnan and his partner Lauren Oakley performed their Samba to Gipsy Kings' Bambaleo - but it wasn't enough to remain in the competition.
Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse and Anton Du Beke chose to save Angela, while head judge Shirley revealed that she would have saved Krishnan and Lauren. "Well I picked the person that I felt was more grounded on their feet without any technical errors," she said. This is the first time the judges have disagreed over who to save in the dance-off, with the four stars making a unanimous decision in previous weeks.
Explaining his decision to save Angela, Craig said that while Krishnan was "magnificent" in the dance-off, Angela should be going to Blackpool next weekend. Meanwhile, Anton said that Angela had the "cleaner technique" and Motsi revealed that despite being "so undecided" in her decision, Angela was better on a "technical level". Following the result, Krishnan emotionally revealed that Strictly had been the "most incredible experience".
"I said it has been life changing and it genuinely has," he said. "It’s right I am going out this week and I have got to get back to life." He went on to gush about his partner Lauren, who made the show "special" for him. "She is most incredible teacher, partner, friend.
