Actor Layton Williams has been the subject of much Strictly Come Dancing talk since he waltzed onto the dancefloor - but says he won't give the trolls any "ammo" to use against him. Speaking to OK! on the red carpet at the Pride of Britain Awards on Sunday, the Everybody's Talking About Jamie star got emotional as he opened up about the negative comments he's received about his outfit choices.
The musical theatre star revealed to OK! that he finds it "wild" when people take the time to criticise his choices. "At first I was like, 'oh it won't affect me'," he said, before admitting that it had.
"I just find it wild when people... like really, are you that pressed? It's just a dress." The 29-year-old is currently in an all-male pairing with professional dancer Nikita Kuzmin, and dressed up as Sandy from Grease for their Move Night Viennese Waltz to There Are Worse Things I Could Do from Grease on Saturday's show. On his Strictly experience so far, Layton, who played the role of Stephen in BBC Three’s Bad Education, told us he was "having the best time".
"I'm actually enjoying it," he said. "Like genuinely just having fun. It's just a vibe isn't it? So [I'm] enjoying it, thinking about the bigger picture, and just keeping it moving." Reflecting on the mixed reactions he's received after the first two live shows of the series, Layton told OK! he was focussing on the "young queens" rather than the haters.
