Stats show how Erik ten Hag has revitalised Diogo Dalot’s Manchester United career

It was obvious from the opening embers of the 4-0 pre-season win over Liverpool in Thailand that Diogo Dalot was going to play a big role for Erik ten Hag this season.
The right-back was seen marauding up and down the flank, overlapping and underlapping Jadon Sancho. Dalot had a tepid season last term, establishing himself as the club’s primary right-back but being too passive amid the team’s woeful form.
Barring injury, he’s set to exceed the 30 appearances he tallied last season with Ten Hag firmly seeing Aaron Wan-Bissaka as second choice. His tactics have also rounded Dalot’s game to the point where he felt like he could cope with him being his main right-back until at least January.

The defender has made 14 tackles in his six Premier League games so far, more than any other player in the team. Maybe his more aggressive play needs fine-tuning still having already picked up three yellow cards.
Nevertheless, he’s also proved potent at the other end of the pitch too, recording an assist for Bruno Fernandes’ winner against Southampton after going throughout all of the last campaign without one.
His cross accuracy has elevated to 45 per cent, up from last year’s 26 per cent. His pass average is higher too, having a 43 per cent success rate - better than last term’s 40 per cent.
Dalot failed to set up a single ‘big scoring chance’ last season, according to the official Premier League website, but already has one to his name. Meanwhile, he’s sprayed 12 accurate long balls - a part of his game it’s fair to say he isn’t known for.
