Erik ten Hag tried Jadon Sancho at centre-forward and Tyrell Malacia at right-back in Manchester United's win against Sheriff Tiraspol as he wanted to test out two tactical experiments for the rest of the season.
Sancho drifted infield to score the opening goal of the night in Moldova and ended the game as the striker, once Cristiano Ronaldo had been replaced by Anthony Elanga.
Malacia also switched to right-back for the final 20 minutes, once Luke Shaw had replaced Diogo Dalot with United cruising to a 2-0 win in the Europa League.

Ten Hag revealed he tried out the tactical switches with one eye on the remainder of the season and the flexible solutions he wants from his team.
"We had one good example, so Sancho in preparing the goal with Bruno he was in the centre forward position," he said.
"We did some experiments tonight, bringing Tyrell on the right and Luke on the left, that’s two good moves, we can be very able and we need that in the season."
Ten Hag was pleased with United's performance in Chisinau on a night which featured another stylish team goal, a trait is becoming familiar to Ten Hag's team.
"After the first 10 minutes we found our formation, we were more secure, the switch of play, we had some good movements on the ball in the middle of the park, we keep the ball and in the right moment, we sped up," he said.
"We made a great goal with Jadon Sancho but before we did more this season, the goal vs Arsenal and many players are involved in making a goal. If we can keep this going and get more quantity of such occasions we are in a good way and that’s what we have to do."
