Starstruck’s Beverly Knight talks bonding with Sheridan Smith and huge pre-show nerves

Showbiz can be a cut-throat business, with ambitious wannabes all vying to be the next big thing. And it’s fair to say that the pop doppelgangers impersonating their favourite stars on Starstruck are all hoping for a big break. But when it comes to the judges rating their performances, along with the viewing public, there’s no rivalry.
Instead it was a bit of a love-in when the team were put together for Olly Murs’ take on Stars In Their Eyes, according to soul diva Beverley Knight. She’s joined by comedian and musical star Jason Manford and Queen frontman Adam Lambert. And fans have particularly enjoyed watching Beverley singing and dancing along to the acts with her new pal and fellow judge, Sheridan Smith.

It’s a long way from Simon Cowell’s ‘go on, impress me’ poker face but Beverley laughs about her and Sheridan jumping up to gyrate to the acts that impress them.
“We had to. We just loved it!” laughs the Wolverhampton born star. And Bev is full of praise for Cilla star Sheridan, who felt pride when the singers put on a good show.
The 48 year old continues: “Sheridan was wanting to hug everyone. You know, like the proud aunt…it was so sweet, really sweet.” And Beverley says that as the panel all brought slightly different experiences to the table, they got on like a house on fire. Describing herself as being "on the same wavelength" as Adam, Beverley says: “Musically, we just like the same kind of things and we noticed the same kind of things, made similar comments.That was really cool.
