It’ll be a sad day on the cobbles as ITV Corrie fans prepare to wave goodbye to Spider Nugent once again. Hankies will be at the ready as Spider’s rekindled romance with Toyah comes to an end.
The week on Coronation Street was kicked off in dramatic style as Toyah was kidnapped by Maggie due to her issues with Spider. Viewers watched as the former eco-warrior-turned-undercover cop came to his new fiancee's rescue after Maggie had pretended to be Spider's wife to get into Toyah’s flat she shares with sister Leanne, her partner Nick Tilsely and his son, Sam.
Maggie was after revenge because her drug-dealing husband was “busted” by Spider, and was subsequently murdered after being convinced but the cop to give a statement about his fellow criminals in order to get a lenient sentence, as writes MEN.
After Spider received a text from Maggie with a location at a waste ground, he rushed there and found her with a gun as she demanded to “know what it is like to have the person you love most in the world go missing”. The episode ended with both Spider and Toyah on their knees.
After Spider shouted at Maggie that her late husband had been a "scumbag heroin dealer", he instructed Toyah to run before a gun shot was heard. Toyah then found Spider appearing to be fatally injured but, after getting Maggie on the ground instead, he then leapt up and it was revealed he had a bulletproof vest on and had radioed for backup.
Toyah gave him a hard decision at the end of the episode, with Spider ultimately pledging to stay committed to his job rather than agreeing to stay with and marry her.
