Sam Mewis already has a 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup win on her shelf and now the
U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team vet is poised to take the Beautiful Game to another level.
Having announced her retirement today, the 2020 U.S. Soccer Female Player of the Year has been named Editor-in-Chief of The Women’s Game, Men in Blazers Media Network’s new women’s soccer vertical.
“It has been remarkable to see the fanhood and passion for women’s soccer grow all over the globe, and especially in the U.S., even just over the past few years,” Mewis told Deadline Friday. “Fans are following not only the USWNT, but the NWSL and the pro leagues in Europe and we’re going to cover all of it in way that’s inspiring, inclusive and joyful.”

Similar in format to the podcasts Mewis captained during the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup for MIB Network, the podcast’s initial guests will include current USWNT captain Lindsey Horan and USWNT International and Sam’s older sister Kristie Mewis England and stars past and present Jill Scott and Lucy Bronze. World Cup Champions Mal Swanson and Crystal Dunn are set to join the podcast soon too.
While sports will of course be the focus of the vertical, other issues such as equal pay, the battle for which Mewis was an outspoken advocate, are expected to come to the fore.
“As the Women’s Game explodes globally, to be able to cover every competition, frame every player’s story, and revel in both the on-field wonder and off-field humanity is such a magical moment for our network,” says Men in Blazers Media Network founder Roger Bennett. “And no one can do
