A UK weather expert has warned that snow could fall in just a matter of days across parts of the country as a white Christmas looks "increasingly likely".
Weather forecaster James Madden expects flurries of wintry weather in the coming days as a band of low pressure sweeps across the country making snow "likely" in areas of Scotland, LBC reported. According to the expert, Scotland has the highest chance of seeing the white stuff compared to other UK nations, with higher grounds to see showers. Madden reportedly said the UK could see "even greater and more significant dumps of snow across higher ground in the north".
The Exacta Weather forecaster also suggested that a white Christmas looked "increasingly likely” this year, saying: “It is now increasingly likely that we will see at least 1-2 notable wintry blasts from late November and into the first half of December, but it may turn milder or much milder later", as writes the Mirror.
However, the Met Office forecast does not reach December 25 as of yet, with weather subject to change. Currently, the long range forecast covering the first week of December, with the Met Office saying: "Unsettled conditions likely to dominate with further rain and showers for all regions. The heaviest and most frequent spells of wet weather are most likely in northern and western parts of the UK."
In the nearer future, Met Office predicts a wet and windy November for most pasts of the country, with long periods of unsettled weather forecast.
