TV presenter Jo Wilson married her partner of six years Dan, 42, just three weeks after finishing treatment for stage 3 cervical cancer and describes part of the reason behind the ceremony as rather "unromantic".The mum-of-one was diagnosed with cervical cancer this summer and underwent life-saving radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Telling OK! what getting hitched means to her, she says: “It feels amazing to be married. It was such a special day – we loved every single minute.
It felt right to make that extra commitment. “We really did want to celebrate our love – not because of what’s happened this year but despite it. It sounds unromantic, but being married makes everything so much easier if anything bad were to happen to either of us." The 38 year old continues: “Dan wanting to marry me and commit when he was seeing me at my worst meant everything.
And it was a lovely distraction planning something special after something so horrible.” Jo and Dan, who live in the Cotswolds with their daughter Mabel, two, have been together ever since meeting by chance in a London bar. “It sounds clichéd but he’s been my rock the last couple of months and keeps my spirits up. I couldn’t have been without him,” Jo says.
“Obviously, I haven’t looked great or been great company or been any use around the house – he’s done absolutely everything when I’ve needed him to. “He’s kept the house running, gone out to buy me white bread when all I wanted was toast, been an amazing dad to Mabel whilst holding down his own job – all with zero complaints. “He’s hugged me when I’ve broken down and needed reassurance and made me laugh when there’s nothing to laugh about.
