Shocked residents found man 'saturated in blood' on doorstep after Glasgow 'shooting'

Shocked residents on a street where an alleged ' shooting ' took place found the victim covered in blood after he banged on their door for help.

The 31-year-old man was discovered with serious injuries at the scene in Barony Drive, in Glasgow's Baillieston area, in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Police have been guarding the area throughout Saturday, with a cordon erected sealing off the street.

Forensic officers also arrived on the scene this afternoon to conduct further inquiries.

One man who knows residents on the street told the Record the victim was “saturated” in blood.

Asking to remain anonymous due to the seriousness of the incident, he said: “Shorty after 12 they heard a bang but they thought it was a car backfiring.

“Five minutes later there was banging at the front door and there was a chap there saturated in blood.

“They think he had been shot in the left arm but aren’t sure as he was holding his arm over the wound and blood was pouring down his right arm.

“They phoned an ambulance and police, then another neighbour came over and wrapped a towel around his arm. That probably saved the man’s life and the paramedics said that.

“He was grey, he was in shock and losing a lot of blood. Their porch is covered in blood.

“The guy was conscious and speaking but not about the incident. He was asking for his mum so they got her number out his phone and she came over.

“The neighbours were quarantined inside and forensics came and walked the road to try find shell casings.

“They were not allowed to take the cars as they were covered in blood.

“This obviously wasn’t a random drive by attack.”

A white Nissan was also seen with blood trails on the front bumper as it sat parked in a driveway outside a home.
