Disgusted residents have contacted the police after someone left metal nails sticking up from the ground in a grassy area used by children walking to school.
One resident, who asked to remain anonymous, said she spotted the nails for the first time yesterday afternoon (January 26), near flats off Browning Road in Swinton.
The area is a communal garden belonging to those who live in the flats and sits directly across from the popular Moorside Park.

And the mystery stranger who left the nails also appears to have also planted a sign nearby which reads: "If you ride on the grass you may fall into a trap!! Beware!"
One resident who lives nearby with her daughter, said of one: "It's a 12 inch full-on metal nail sticking out of the ground. It's horrible.
"My little girl loves to run around near there.
"All it takes is a kid to run through and trip and they could die from something like that."
She added: "There's a few ways you can walk to the local schools with kids and that's one. It's directly across from Moorside Park.
"That area is well used by residents even though it's a communal area."
Sian Grant, executive director of operations at Salix Homes, said: “We can confirm that we received reports about this matter from a concerned member of the public.
"As soon as this was brought to our attention, we took immediate action and our Environmental Team have been on site today (Thursday, November 27) to investigate, however the nails had already been removed before we got there.
“We will now be working closely with the police and the community to investigate the matter further and identify the culprits.
