DI Alison 'Tosh' McIntosh has been a main character in the BBC's Shetland since it first began and has built up a reputation on the Isles for her determination to get justice. For the eighth series, Tosh has stepped into the role of DI at the Lerwick police station. It's only on a temporary basis however, as for practical reasons she isn't able, or perhaps doesn't want, to make it official.
She has an easy rapport with Sandy (Steven Robertson) and Billy (Lewis Howden) and the team seems to be functioning well and not dealing with anything too grizzly. She also has a great connection with Harry (Tibu Fortes), the new procurator fiscal, who really champions her. As Tosh teams up with DI Ruth Calder, OK! takes a look at actress Alison O'Donnell's life off-screen.
Who is Alison O'Donnell married to? The actress is married to the Scottish playwright and screen writer DC Jackson.
The pair have kept their marriage out of the spotlight so not too much is known about their relationship. However, it is believed the pair met while Alison starred in DC's play My Romantic History. Her husband has also worked on on shows including Fresh Meat, Lucky Man and Dead Pixels.
Does Alison O'Donnell have children? Alison has two children with DC. She gave birth to their daughter in 2017 and welcomed their son in 2020.
The couple have kept their children's names private and the actress said it was tough falling pregnant during the pandemic. She told the Sunday Mail: "I hadn't planned a pandemic into it when I got pregnant the second time.
It wasn't part of the mood board. "It was the darkest of times. Our son was born in October when things were starting to close down again and winter was coming in.
Then it hit Christmas and the nurseries shut.
