Not to be outdone, Coachella Valley Music and Art Festival brought Zendaya back to the mic, “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” actually took over a mile of Manhattan and “Citadel” stars Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Richard Madden did the same in the heart of Westwood.

K.J. Yossman “Bad Sisters” creator and star Sharon Horgan is set to receive the Award of Excellence at Banff World Media Festival in June. Horgan, who is also co-founder of production company Merman (“Dreamland”) will also appear as a Summit Series keynote speaker. The writer, actor and producer is known for projects including “Motherland,” “Dreamland” (starring Lily Allen) and “The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent,” in which she starred opposite Nicolas Cage. “Sharon is one of the top creators, showrunners and performers in the business, and her addition to Banff’s lineup of keynote speakers underscores the festival’s prominence on the world stage,” said Kevin Beggs, Banff board chair and Lionsgate Television’s chief creative officer. “We are privileged to be partnered with Sharon on ‘Motherland’ for the BBC and are beyond excited about its U.S. adaptation that recently received a pilot order at ABC. I’m thrilled that she will be joining us at Banff.”

With the advancement of artificial intelligence and just how quickly technology progresses, it feels like we’re getting dangerously close to seeing the first real sci-fi robot. Not like some mindless machine that does preprogrammed tasks, but the type of robot that we saw in sci-fi films with thoughts of its own.

Owen Gleiberman Chief Film Critic Last month, to my great surprise, I raved about a Guy Ritchie movie, “Operation Fortune: Ruse de guerre,” as an exhilarating exception to the rule of Ritchie’s style-over-substance, more-frosting-than-cake school of crime-thriller grandiloquence. The film bombed, and more critics than not disagreed with me. But I stand by my assessment of “Operation Fortune” as a diabolically entertaining screwball action-espionage caper. If you want to talk about exceptions to the rule, though, that movie has nothing on the new Guy Ritchie film, which is called (wait for it) “Guy Ritchie’s The Covenant.” Ritchie’s name was reportedly added to the title because there is already a film in existence called “The Covenant.” But that sounds like an awfully thin reason to suddenly convert Ritchie into a marquee legend, and, in fact, there’s a better reason. Against all odds, he has become one of the best directors working. “The Covenant” isn’t another Ritchie underworld caper. It’s an Afghanistan war drama, and if you’re wondering whether he has made a combat film in some version of the Ritchie style (jazzy violence, fast-break comic-strip dialogue, needle drops), the answer is no. He has put his confectionary flamboyance on hold. “The Covenant” unveils something new: Ritchie the contempo classicist. We’re seeing a born-again filmmaker.

In its half-hour episodes, “Bupkis” shows Davidson’s life in a heightened, fictionalized manner. Combining grounded storytelling with unfiltered and absurd elements, the eight-episode show will depict Davidson’s unique worldview. The trailer opens with quick clips of tabloid headlines about Davidson and with him saying, “I googled myself yesterday. People think I’m, like, a joke for some reason.”

When the first handful of projects were announced for DC Studios, one of them was an animated series based on the DC Comics team “Creature Commandos.” The project would see the voice cast making the transition to live-action incarnations as well down the road. The new genre series was announced alongside a string of feature films such as James Gunn‘s “Superman: Legacy,” a new Batman project called “The Brave & The Bold,” “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow,” and James Mangold‘s “Swamp Thing” remake as part of their “Chapter One: Gods & Monsters” lineup.

Frank Grillo, David Harbour, Maria Bakalova, Indira Varma, Zoe Chao, Alan Tudyk, Sean Gunn and Steve Agee have been set as the voice cast for DC’s new animated series Creature Commandos.

The animated series — which is set to premiere in 2024 as the first title in the new DC Universe headed by James Gunn and Peter Safran — unveiled its voice cast featuring David Harbour, Indira Varma, Alan Tudyk, Maria Bakalova, Zoe Chao, Steve Agee and more. Varmawill voice the show’s main protagonist, Bride of Frankenstein, a version of the classic horror character; Frank Grillo will play Rick Flag Sr., the father of Joel Kinnaman’s Rick Flag, Jr. from 2021’s “The Suicide Squad” (written and directed by Gunn); Harbour will voice Eric Frankenstein, a version of the classic monster and ostensible love interest for the Bride; Chao will voice Nina Mazursky, an amphibious scientist; Gunn will voice G.I. Robot, a military android; and Tudyk will voice Doctor Phosphorus, who is permanently radioactive (and often a Batman villain).

Sebastian Stan and Maria Bakalova, both veterans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, are attached to star in a new spy comedy for Paramount Pictures with Paul Feig attached to produce and potentially direct, TheWrap has confirmed.Jenny Bicks, a screenwriter known for “The Greatest Showman” and “Rio 2,” is writing the script based off of an original pitch. Plot details are currently unknown.Feig is probably best known for directing “Bridesmaids,” which began a string of profitable, high-concept, female led comedies like “The Heat” and “Spy.” In 2016 he directed the all-female “Ghostbusters” reboot, which became a cultural flashpoint, cutting short a potential franchise and leaving Sony to quickly revert to a more traditional approach with the release of “Ghostbusters: Afterlife” in 2021.

Deadline reports that Brady Corbet‘s “The Brutalist” is finally in production in Hungary after a couple of years of delays. That’s great news, but Corbet had to overhaul his starring cast due to scheduling conflicts with original cast members.
