A shopkeeper nicknamed ‘Rambo’ told how he fought off a gun-toting robber who has been jailed for eight years over the terrifying raid on his store. Khalid Mehmood, 65, disarmed the masked thug with his bare hands after the pistol was pointed at him during the hold-up in Edinburgh.
The grandad-of-11 battered David McKenzie - known as ‘Crackers’ - over the head with his own weapon and bundled him outside. Brave Khalid managed to pull off the robber’s balaclava as they fought in the street, prompting McKenzie to tell him: "Listen Rambo, it was only a joke. Don’t tell the polis."
McKenzie, 35, a past customer who was also armed with a knife, was caged at the city’s High Court which heard he had 33 previous convictions.
Khalid, a former amateur wrestler who has been known as Rambo for decades, told the Record: “I’m glad he got eight years. It was overwhelming at the time, but I would do the same again.
"It could’ve been my wife in the shop instead of me. My customers have been very supportive. They call me a ‘hero’, although I wouldn’t say that about myself.”

“He was quite strong but I got the gun off him. He turned to take his knife out at the same time but dropped it. When he picked it up, I was already hitting him with his gun. The gun was a very heavy, old-fashioned type.
“We ended up outside the shop, fighting hand to hand, and I dropped the gun. I wanted to see his face so I managed to pull his balaclava up. He pushed me and I fell over. He had the

Danny became his dad’s manager in 1986 and oversaw one of the great comebacks in music, which ended with Bennett and Gaga taping a final special at Radio City Music Hall on his 95th birthday.
