This is the moment a Scots teenager was assaulted by thug on a Midlothian street as he went to meet friends. Kerri Smart and her son Blair, 13, hope the man is found and punished with CCTV footage from a nearby house shared on social media.
Blair had just left their Gorebridge home on Sunday August 20 when a car stopped and a passenger got out. The man asked Blair for his name before repeatedly punching the boy, reports Edinburgh Live.
A vehicle can be circling a nearby roundabout before the man approaches Blair. The teen then drops his phone before being struck again.
Blair was left shaken and bruised by the incident and fled to his gran's house where he waited to be picked up by mum Kerri. She said: "He just had his dinner and left to meet some pals. You can see from the footage the same car goes round a few times.
"The driver dropped the boy off and he came up to Blair and said 'what's your name' but didn't even give him a chance to answer before he started hitting him.
"The boy went to walk away but as Blair dropped his phone, when he went to pick up it, he thought he was coming for him so turned back around and hit him a few more times which is caught on camera.
"We think we know who it is as people have been messaging me saying he comes over regularly and threatens kids younger than him - he's basically a troublemaker.
"He phoned his cousin afterwards then I went to pick him up from his gran's house but he was obviously a bit shaken and had bruises on his face. Luckily it wasn't as bad as it could have been. He seems to be ok now but he just wants the boy punished."
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We received a report of an assault which happened near Gore Avenue, Gorebridge on the evening of Sunday, 20 August,
