A Scots mum claims she was reduced to tears after a Hamilton café owner humiliated her when he 'rudely' asked her toddler to quieten down.
Stacey Jane Mackie was enjoying an afternoon out at Cafe Crema, in Cadzow Street, with her two-year-old son Charlie, her friend Elaine and her son Moss, also two, when the incident occurred yesterday.
Mum-of-one Stacey, told the Daily Record their lunch was cut short when a male member of staff approached their table and asked the two kids to quieten down so others could enjoy their lunch.
The 35-year-old, from East Kilbride, said: "We left out of sheer embarrassment. It was humiliating. I welled up because I was that angry at what had happened.
"The boys were just being kids, typical two year olds. They weren't even being that loud. No screaming, crying or running around. Nothing like that.
"They were only standing up, sitting down and at then standing up again. You know how hard it is to keep them still."
Stacey claims the staff member's reasons for asking the kids to lower the tone was so others could enjoy their lunch.
She added: "I couldn't understand what we he was saying because I knew for a fact the only other two people in the café were not annoyed at the boys. They had been interacting with them .
"Before he said anything to us the kids had been looking over at the two women. They were making faces back at them and and tapping the screen between us to make them laugh. So when he made out like they were disrupting the others I couldn't understand."
Stacey claims Elaine apologised to the other customers as they quickly packed up to leave, but said the women told them they had nothing to apologise for.
