A police officer who subjected his partner to a campaign of domestic abuse for nearly a year has been allowed to walk free from court without being punished.
Andrew Caulfield was admonished despite subjecting his colleague and lover Amanda Watson to a nine-month long campaign of harassment after she dumped him.
Jilted Caulfield, 47, admitted carrying out a sustained course of domestic abuse against PC Watson after she ended their relationship.
He also admitted defying a court order to stay away from Ms Watson after he was initially arrested and appeared in the dock at Dundee Sheriff Court.
But Sheriff Jillian Martin-Brown did not impose any punishment on Caulfield after noting he had stayed out of trouble for around two years since the abuse.
Dundee Sheriff Court was told that Caulfield, who has been a Dundee-based PC for many years, would lose his job with Police Scotland as a result of his conviction.
Sheriff Martin-Brown imposed a two-year non-harassment order on the disgraced officer after being told PC Watson wanted continued protection from him.
She told him: "It is clear this was your first offence, and given it happened in 2021, and you have been of good behaviour for two years, you will be admonished."
Solicitor Kris Gilmartin, defending, said: "He will lose his employment following today's hearing."
Caulfield admitted engaging in a course of abusive behaviour towards Ms Watson, while she was his partner or ex-partner, between July 12, 2020 and April 7, 2021.
Caulfield, from Dundee, ignored his former girlfriend's pleas to leave her alone and refused to take no for an answer when she told him their relationship was at an end.
He admitted "acting in a coercive and controlling manner towards Amanda Watson."
