A restaurant in Scone is hoping to begin to rebuild this month after over a year closed following water bringing down the ceiling.
In December 2022, La Sicilyana suffered a catastrophic flood with a burst mains water pipe flooding the empty flat above the bistro, leading to ankle-deep water in the restaurant dining room.

“The whole process is taking a lot longer than anticipated, there is a lot to do and the rebuild is only part of it, however, we are super excited and eager to get started and to reopen,” Laura told the PA.
“We have genuinely missed the social interaction with all our customers as well as making good friends along the way.
“It is anticipated we can reopen April or May, just in time for a mid to late spring opening.”
The bistro may be closed but the couple are always working tirelessly in the background and staying in touch with everyone by newsletters and social media.
“We would like to thank everyone in the village of Scone and beyond for their support and kindness during the challenges of 2023,” said Steven.
With the bistro closed, Steven and Laura have had the opportunity to dedicate more time to develop their online wine shop www.lasicilyanawines.co.uk and to promote corporate and private wine tastings, for which they
