Gold House has unveiled its annual A100, the list that honors the 100 Asian Pacific leaders impacting American culture and society. The list includes names like Sandra Oh, Ke Huy Quan, Joanna Gaines and Angels baseball player Shohei Ohtani.
“Gold House’s A100 List is a vital representation of the diverse opportunities and achievements of and for Asian Pacific leaders. Becoming begins with seeing–and it shows how we’re just getting started. I’m so proud to be part of past classes and applaud this year’s class.” said Michelle Yeoh, Academy Award-winning actor, Gold House A100 Hall of Famer, and inaugural Gold Gala Honoree last year.
Gold House will celebrate these honorees through a slate of events from May 5 through May 7, including the Gold Gala on May 6, the premier and most-viewed Asian Pacific gathering, which convenes over 750 Asian Pacific and multicultural luminaries across industries and highlights several major initiatives that will define the next wave of the Asian Pacific movement.
“In the past year, from Everything Everywhere All At Once at the Oscars to IPOs on the NYSE and NASDAQ, we’ve moved from Asian Pacific community firsts to global industry firsts. This is no longer about just having a seat at the table or belonging–the A100 and the powerful Gold Gala are about building new houses by breaking established ceilings for all communities.” said Bing Chen and Jeremy Tran, CEO and COO of Gold House. “By distilling and punctuating the Asian Pacific community’s essential impact on culture, we reimagine what’s possible for our community and redefine how we’re seen in society.”

BreAnna Bell Scott Ly has signed on to join HBO’s “The Sympathizer” in a recurring role, Variety has learned. He’s attached to play Gunner Dao, a Vietnamese former soldier who escaped to the US and is part of the Recon squad. Ly joins previously announced cast members Hoa Xuande, Fred Nguyen Khan, Toan Le, Vy Le and Alan Trong, Sandra Oh, Kieu Chinh and Nguyen Cao Ky Duyen. Robert Downey Jr. is slated to play multiple supporting roles as the main antagonists. He also serves as an executive producer on the project. Based on Viet Thanh Nguyen’s Pulitzer Prize-winning debut novel of the same name, “The Sympathizer” is an espionage thriller and cross-culture satire about the struggles of a half-French, half-Vietnamese communist spy during the final days of the Vietnam War and his resulting exile in the United States. Production recently wrapped and took place between Thailand and Los Angeles.
Michelle Yeoh’s career has surprised even herself.
It’s an “Everything Everywhere All at Once” reunion!
Michaela Zee editor Hollywood has had considerable feats of Asian representation this year: “Everything Everywhere All at Once’s” historic Oscar wins, Netflix’s “Beef” and, on May 24, “American Born Chinese.” However, despite the nuanced portrayal of the Asian American identity within the phantasmagorical world of Chinese mythology, Ke Huy Quan was hesitant about joining the series’ Asian-led ensemble. “I remember when I first heard about this character when I was offered the role, it scared the hell out of me. In fact, I actually passed on it because I told our creative team that this is the type of portrayal that we do not want to see in 2023,” Quan said during a post-screening Q&A at Radio City Music Hall on Sunday night.
The White House hosted a screening of the upcoming Disney+ series American Born Chinese, and in remarks beforehand, President Joe Biden keyed in on the presence of its star, recent Oscar winner Ke Huy Quan.
Jazz Tangcay Artisans Editor Oscar winner Ke Huy Quan was honored with the Gold House Leading Man award at the second annual Gold House Gold Gala on Saturday in Los Angeles. “When I think of a leading man, I think of someone who is six feet tall with big muscles, good-looking, and a ladies’ man,” the “Everything Everywhere All at Once” star said before cracking, “That practically screams me, right?” While the gala honored the most impactful Asians on the company’s A100 list, which recognizes the 100 AAPI individuals who impacted American culture and society in the last year, the night remained focused on celebrating Asian visibility and achievements. There was little talk of the ongoing Writers Guild of America strike currently impacting the industry.
So many celebrities stepped out to attend Gold House’s 2nd annual Gold Gala at The Music Center on Saturday (May 6) in Los Angeles.
Shohei Ohtani tied a career-high with 13 strikeouts as the Los Angeles Angels beat the St. Louis Cardinals 6-4 on Wednesday night. But that wasn’t the biggest news on the night.
2023 A100 honorees, the 100 most impactful AAPI individuals and groups across industries over the past year.In addition to Quan and Vellani, honorees in the entertainment category this year include rapper Saweetie, comedian Joel Kim Booster, Oscar nominee Hong Chao, K-pop group New Jeans and the casts of the upcoming “American Born Chinese” and “Joy Ride,” among others.Despite the massive success of “Everything Everywhere All At Once” at the 95th Academy Awards in March, visibility and awareness of Asian American Pacific Islanders remains low.According to an annual study released this week by the STAATUS-Index, 26% of respondents could not name a single famous or prominent Asian American. Among those named, the two most popular for three years in a row were Jackie Chan (who is not American) and Bruce Lee (who died 50 years ago).

The A100 List honors trailblazers across the industry who are at the forefront of what the organization calls the “new gold age.” Gold House will celebrate these honorees and announce several new initiatives at the second annual Gold Gala during AAPI month on May 6 in downtown Los Angeles. “It’s impossible to fully appreciate the artistic and entrepreneurial renaissance that is currently underway without Gold House,” said honoree Jose Antonio Vargas, the founder of Define American and one of the lead producers of Broadway’s “Here Lies Love.” “With Gold House at the forefront, not only are Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in the mainstream — we are helping define what is mainstream.”
Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Destiny. The fifth and final Indiana Jones film is released on June 30. A synopsis reads: “Finding himself in a new era, approaching retirement, Indy wrestles with fitting into a world that seems to have outgrown him.“But as the tentacles of an all-too-familiar evil return in the form of an old rival, Indy must don his hat and pick up his whip once more to make sure an ancient and powerful artifact doesn’t fall into the wrong hands.”Ever since the film was announced fans have speculated that Quan will make a return to the franchise after starring as Short Round in 1984’s Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom.Last year Indiana Jones star Harrison Ford reunited with Quan at the Disney D23 Expo before Jones presented Quan his Oscar for his role in Everything Everywhere All At Once, which picked up Best Picture at the 2023 ceremony. However, it’s not good news for people hoping to see the pair together on the big screen again. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight Quan responded to the Indiana Jones 5 cameo rumours.
Michaela Zee editor At the Time 100 Gala on Wednesday night, former child stars Ke Huy Quan and Drew Barrymore reunited after not having “seen each other in almost 40 years” to present Steven Spielberg with the event’s Impact Award. “Steven introduced me to this world where his imagination lived and invited me in,” Quan said. “He showed me how much fun we can have when we let our creativity be our guide. My life has [been] made so much better because of him.” In his acceptance speech, Spielberg reciprocated the affection he received from Quan and Barrymore. “I have never been more proud in my working career than being able to find, in 1981, 6-year-old Drew Barrymore and, in early 1983, 11-year-old Ke,” the filmmaker said. “I was so lucky to find them both, and they have not changed in all those years.”
Ke Huy Quan has some disappointing news for “Indiana Jones” fans.

Angelina Jolie, Reginald Hudlin and Chip and Joanna Gaines are among the boldfaced names on the guest list for tonight’s White House State Dinner for South Korea’s President Yoon Suk Yeol.
While most of Disney’s CinemaCon presentation was dominated by expected Disney fare like “The Little Mermaid,” “The Haunted Mansion,” “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” and “Elemental,” there was still time spent on films from formally-Fox and formally-Fox Searchlight. Taiki Waititi and Iain Morris’ long-gestating “Next Goal Wins” stars Michael Fassbender as Dutch-American coach Thomas Rongen’s efforts to lead the American Samoa national football team to qualify for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. It also stars Oscar Kightley, David Fane, Beulah Koale, Uli Latukefu, Rachel House, Kaimana, Rhys Darby, Will Arnett, and Elisabeth Moss.
Joanna and Chip Gaines have gone through plenty of great and not-so-great times in their two decades together, and they're reflecting on those days as they approach their 20th anniversary. In a new essay Chip penned for the upcoming issue of Magnolia Journal, the 48-year-old opened up about weathering all sorts of storms with his partner in business and life. "Marriage is interesting that way," Chip wrote.
