Ain’t no party like an S Club party! The British band S Club 7 launched to super stardom in the late ‘90s — and they are still making sweet music.
In 1998, the group, made up of Rachel Stevens, Tina Barrett, Jon Lee, Jo O’Meara, Hannah Spearritt, Bradley McIntosh and the late Paul Cattermole, was formed in London. Their fame grew almost overnight after they starred on the BBC sitcom Miami 7.
Season 1 of the series, which was later renamed S Club 7 in Miami for American audiences on Fox Family and later ABC Family, aired from 1999 to 2000.
The squad continued their TV adventures for three more seasons, all of which were set up as mini-series with their own titles. S Club 7 in L.A. premiered in 2000 and the following year, Hollywood 7 aired. The final season, Viva S Club, filmed in Spain and dropped in 2002.
As the band was taking over TV screens in the U.K. — and later the U.S. and 99 other countries where the show aired — their music was continuing to make a splash worldwide.
S Club 7 released its debut single, “Bring It All Back,” from their first record, S Club 7, in June 1999. The track, which was also the show’s theme song, reached No. 1 on the U.K. singles charts and was later certified Platinum. The overwhelming response to the song catapulted the group’s success and led to a deal with Hasbro to create singing dolls of each member and an official magazine for the group was published.
