Ruth Langsford has tearfully admitted that her son Jack leaving home was "horrendous" and she felt like she'd had part of her heart "ripped out". The Loose Women host, 63, who shares Jack, 21, with husband Eamonn Holmes, 64, opened up about her only child fleeing the nest in a candid interview on the In A Good Place podcast with Rosie Nixon.
She could be seen becoming tearful as she recalled Jack moving out when he went to study broadcast journalism at Salford University. Ruth wiped away tears as she told Hello!: "That first week of not having him at home literally felt like part of my heart ripped out." She continued: "I kept his bedroom door shut.
I remember coming into his bedroom and crying and getting hold of the pillow, and I could smell him on the pillow, and had a good old cry, and then shutting the door and then that first week was horrendous because I was just so used to having him around." Fellow parents were quick to agree with Ruth, with one person writing on Instagram: "I feel your pain I cried when my boys went to uni and sobbed all week when why oldest left home recently. Miss him so much xx." A second said: "Oh my goodness! Eldest off to uni in September and you've set me off @ruthlangsford I feel you xxx," and a third wrote: "Exactly me.

Total breakdown. Horrific." Ruth's emotional confession comes after she opened up about replacing Holly Willoughby on This Morning, saying if she was asked, she would "certainly consider" taking on the role.
She also dismissed claims that she was "torn" over whether to go back to This Morning due to husband Eamonn's switch to GB News. Holly, 42, stepped down from presenting This Morning in October following the exit of her co-host Phillip Schofield in May.
