Young British men turning up to fight against Russia have been dubbed 'wannabe guys you'd meet at a pub' by a former Royal Marine Commando.
Speaking on Good Morning Britain, Emile Ghessen said people with no combat experience are volunteering with a romantic idea that they'll "save Ukraine " from Russia.
Now a filmmaker, he is currently producing a documentary of the struggles facing Ukrainians in Kyiv.
Ghessen told hosts Richard Madeley and Susanna Reid that he has met with some foreign volunteers who are "clueless", Wales Online reported.
Some of them are described as the " PlayStation generation" - young men with little experience beyond playing war-based video games - and questioned if some are "thugs that want to kill people".
He said there were multiple reasons why Brits are risking their lives to join up with Ukrainian forces:
"I've spent time with the guys here, and it comes with various reasons.
"You mentioned earlier about the PlayStation generation - there's quite a few young men here that have got no military experience, they've never seen combat, as far as it goes past the TV screen back home."
Richard then asked Emile: "What motivates these guys? I mean, are they basically coming out because they feel a moral imperative to defend the people of Ukraine or are, let's be blunt, are some of them basically thugs that want to kill people?".

The 65-year-old TV presenter discussed his own experience of interviewing Chris, 57, during a conversation about the Oscars incident on 'Good Morning Britain'. Speaking to his co-host Susanna Reid, he said: "I was asked by GQ Magazine some years ago.
Amanda Holden isn't necessarily known for her political views but she made her feelings clear as she appeared on Good Morning Britain
Susanna Reid and Martin Lewis felt emotional watching a video clip of a young Ukrainian girl singing the country’s national anthem onstage during a major charity concert, weeks after she first went viral singing a song from Frozen in a bomb shelter. Introducing the clip on Monday’s Good Morning Britain, Susanna shared the ‘good news’ that Amelia Anisovych was now safe in Poland after fleeing Ukraine with her grandmother and brother Misha. The seven-year-old was able to escape her home country’s capital city of Kyiv shortly after her first video gained huge interest, and the 51-year-old presenter explained that Amelia was back and sharing her voice once more.
Martin Lewis was almost left overcome with emotion as he hosted Good Morning Britain on Monday and shared an update on the young girl who went viral singing in a Ukraine bunker.
Ranvir Singh has shared her support as her Good Morning Britain replacement has been confirmed. It was reported last month that the 44-year-old TV presenter and journalist left her political role on the ITV news programme in December.
Richard Madeley infuriated Good Morning Britain viewers after he interrupted an interview with Scots volunteers helping people in Ukraine to ask about refugees' favourite pizza toppings.
Susanna Reid was forced to make a rare on-air correction during the latest edition of Good Morning Britain following a comment from a guest.
Good Morning Britain viewers have slammed presenter Richard Madeley's approach to interviewing as he continued to interrupt a guest who is currently volunteering at the Polish-Ukrainian border, providing food to refugees. On Tuesday 15 March's episode of the ITV morning show, journalist Richard, 65, and his co-presenter Susanna Reid, 51, were interviewing Perthshire local David Fox-Pitt.
Martin Roberts has given an update on his 'mercy dash' to Ukraine.
