The Queen namechecked Prince Charles and Prince William in her Christmas Day address – but made no mention of the Duke of Cambridge’s brother, Prince Harry. Queen Elizabeth’s 2021 speech saw her pay tribute to her “beloved” Prince Philip, remembering his “mischievous, enquiring twinkle” and commending his “sense of service, intellectual curiosity and capacity to squeeze fun out of any situation”.

Christmas is usually a time to relax, have fun, eat what you want, wear what you feel most comfortable in and enjoy yourselves. But for the Royal Family, protocols don't take a break during the festive period and they still have many style rules to follow.

On Christmas Day we are normally treated to a small glimpse of what the Royal Family get up to as they all venture to St Mary Magdalene Church in Sandringham. On the big day we see the likes of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie and, of course, The Queen dressed in their finest to partake in the tradition.

Queen Elizabeth, much like Kate Middleton, usually prefers to do her own makeup for the most part of the year.The only exception is her annual Christmas Day broadcast, when she apparently asks makeup artist Marilyn Widdess for expert help. With COVID-19 cases on the rise, and the possibility of restrictions being imposed last-minute, does this mean the Queen will have to do her own makeup for her 2021 speech? It’s long been reported that Kate Middleton is a big fan of Jo Malone London’s iconic Orange Blossom scent. Back in 2011 Vogue reported that the brand had been contacted and was asked to provide "candles, hand washes and lotions" in the scent to deck out Westminster Abbey and its bathrooms for the Royal Wedding.
