Former Manchester United captain Roy Keane has urged Marcus Rashford to simplify his game and take his opportunity after being handed a rare start.
Rashford was given the nod to return to the line-up against Tottenham after what has been a turbulent week for the England international. The 24-year-old is considering his future at Old Trafford after being named on the bench against Manchester City last weekend.
The forward has found his opportunities of late limited, with his start against Spurs just his third in United’s last 12 Premier League games. Rashford has also suffered from an alarming lack of form this season, having returned from injury early on in the campaign.

With the emergence of Anthony Elanga this season, and Jadon Sancho finding his feet on the left-hand side – Rashford’s preferred position – the forward has found it difficult to earn his place in the side. He was given his chance though as United faced a crucial encounter in their battle for fourth against Spurs.
And, speaking ahead of the game, Keane sent a message to Rashford as he gave him some advice on how to rediscover his form. The former United captain urged him to remember who he is playing for, and to start enjoying his football again.
“He’s had a difficult few months, a lot of players do - you have your ups and downs but you get through it,” Keane told Sky Sports. “If he simplifies his game, starts running in behind, he’ll start enjoying it again.
