Bob MacIntyre says Rory McIlroy and his Ryder Cup buddies have turned estate agents and travel guides to help his American dream.
The Northern Irishman and Rome team-mates Shane Lowry, Tommy Fleetwood and Sepp Straka gave their mate the lowdown on making the big move across the Atlantic. MacIntyre has a new Florida base, having earned full rights on the PGA Tour. Starting out, the Oban star sought advice to make sure things were ideally set up. The 27-year-old said: “When I was out here in 2021, mine, Rory’s and Shane’s lockers are normally close to each other due to the last names.
“I always got on well with Shane as we have the same background, pretty chilled out and not give too much of a crap. But always when I met Rory, it was like, ‘Oh, it’s Rory. He’s up there, I’m down here’. Whereas the Ryder Cup, everyone opened up. You get to know them on a different level. When I was making the move out here, it was all thought out. Where’s the best place to go?
"I want to get family out. I’m not just moving there and, ‘See you all later on’. I’m moving, so how can I be as comfortable as I can?
“I need an airport nearby as I want my family to come out. I want things for them to do. When I am out practising, they need something to do, not just sit at home. A lot went into it and I spoke to a lot of the guys – Shane, Tommy, Sepp. I spoke to a lot and just wanted their input.
“Being part of that team has opened up those kinds of doors for me to get the help of, I mean, one of the best players ever [McIlroy] to play the game.”

Joe Leydon Film Critic How far will you go to deny your identity in order to be a somebody? What happens when you make a deal with a devil whom you might normally despise, but has transfixed much of an entire nation’s population? And how long can you will yourself to ignore evidence of the intolerable? These are just a few of the questions raised — sometimes with allusive finesse, sometimes with blunt-force impact — during “The Performance,” an enthralling period drama with often disquieting contemporary relevance. If you have roamed through this cinematic territory before, you may discern in Shira Piven’s exceptional film traces of “Cabaret,” “Mephisto” and other tales of ambitious entertainers striving for the spotlight as Adolf Hitler’s shadow spreads over 1930s Germany.
