Paramount’s Bob Marley: One Love had offshore audiences getting together and feeling more than alright in Wednesday international box office play. Beginning overseas release yesterday, the Reinaldo Marcus Green-directed biopic grossed $4.9M across 10 markets, several of them giving the story of the reggae icon No. 1 status and the biggest or second-biggest launch day ever for a music biopic — in Jamaica, it scored the biggest opening day of all time. 

Moviegoing is slowly going back into fashion today with Paramount’s Bob Marley: One Love biopic seeing an estimated $12M. For a movie playing on Valentine’s Day midweek, that’s a record besting the $11.6M made by the 2012 Channing Tatum romance, The Vow.

Bob Marley: One Love, the long-awaited biopic about the reggae icon, has finally arrived in UK cinemas today (February 14), but which of the great artist’s songs are included in the film? British actor Kingsley Ben-Adir (Peaky Blinders, One Night in Miami) plays Marley, with Lashana Lynch (No Time to Die, Captain Marvel) taking the role of his wife Rita and James Norton (Happy Valley, Grantchester) playing Island Records boss Chris Blackwell. The film has been made in partnership with Marley’s family, and is directed by King Richard’s Reinaldo Marcus Green.

Those ticket sales should be enough to lead over Sony’s comic book adventure “Madame Web,” which looks to generate $22 million to $25 million during the same six-day period.

Michaela Zee Ryan Gosling‘s stuntman-bounty hunter in “The Fall Guy” is apparently a Swiftie. Universal released a Super Bowl ad on Sunday for David Leitch’s thriller, which features multiple action sequences, aliens and space cowboys. In one scene, Gosling cries in his car while listening to Taylor Swift‘s song “All Too Well.” “Have you been crying to Taylor Swift?” Emily Blunt asks Gosling in the trailer.

Taylor Swift, who is expecting to attend the game to watch her boyfriend Travis Kelce, who plays tight end for the team. Swift played a show in Tokyo last night, but will fly in to Vegas in time. As well as the game, the Super Bowl broadcast will feature a number of high-profile advertising spots for upcoming films and television series.

Bob Marley is a figure in music who has transcended his genre to become a global icon, a face and voice known by many, even if reggae isn’t quite their jam. A biopic of the artist, who sadly died at just 36 in 1981 was always inevitable – and it has come in the form of a family-approved (and produced) drama that casts Kingsley Ben-Adir in the role of the cultural icon.Having such a global appeal, and being so well-known, makes the task of a biopic an undeniable one – particularly for star Ben-Adir.

Edward Norton has been tapped to play the role of veteran folk singer Pete Seeger in the upcoming Bob Dylan biopic, A Complete Unknown.Originally, the role of Seeger was meant to be played by Benedict Cumberbatch, who according to a Deadline Hollywood report, had to drop out of the project over scheduling conflicts. In his stead, Norton will now join the cast to play the folk musician.The film – which has long been in the works – will star Timothée Chalamet as Bob Dylan and Elle Fanning as Sylvie Russo, with James Mangold directing.
