Roman Kemp has ruled out his chances of appearing on Strictly Come Dancing - admitting that he's too worried about injuring himself. The 30-year-old told OK! in an exclusive chat that he has previously undergone "two knee operations" and suffered with "a slipped disc", so thinks that Strictly isn't for him. "I would almost bet that I would end up getting injured," he said.
"I've had two knee operations, and a slipped disc. And I don't think it's really built for me." The radio presenter previously told OK! that he would sign up for Strictly Come Dancing but only if he were paired up with a male professional dancer. "The only way I’d do Strictly is if I was teamed up with Johannes [Radebe],” he said.
“I think sometimes the show takes away from the skill of the dancers and it becomes like a soap opera of who’s dating who.” “I’d want to be focused on the dancing and enjoying who I’m dancing with, not feeling like, ‘Oh God, is someone going to write a story about me?’ – I would never want that,” he says. “So, if I was teamed up in a same-sex pairing, it would be brilliant because I’d just be focusing on the show.” When asked whether he still feels the same, Roman said that he would still want to be put with a male partner, adding: "When it comes to a show like that, it should be about the talent. [The gossip] doesn’t interest to me." Roman is hosting BBC One's newest quiz show The Finish Line alongside Blue Peter star Sarah Greene - although he admitted that he had no idea who she was at first.
