The risk of a terror attack in the UK is rising according to a new report as the government has confirmed its commitment to Martyn's Law.
The Home Office counter-terrorism strategy Contest has been updated for the first time in five years, with the report finding that domestic plotters are harder to detect, a persistent threat from Islamist extremists and advances in technology being exploited.
Since it was last updated in 2018, there have been nine declared terrorist attacks in the UK in which six people were killed and 20 injured.

Home Secretary Suella Braverman said in a speech on Tuesday (July 18) that attackers are becoming 'increasingly unpredictable' and that such threats have become 'more diverse, dynamic and complex'. She said 39 plots had been foiled since 2017 - a period that has seen 15 attacks carried out - praising the work of the security services.
She went on to reference the Manchester Arena bombing of 2017, since which the government has opened the CTOC - Counter-Terrorism Operations Centre and added that law enforcement and intelligence agencies have improved powers.
She also said following the Manchester attack, which claimed the lives of 22 lives victims and injured many more, the government has pledged to 'ensure public venues are better prepared and protected against terrorist attacks.'
"In honour of Martyn Hett, who was tragically killed in the attack, we will pass Martyn’s Law to improve security at public venues," Braverman added.
