Rishi Sunak diverted an RAF jet to take him to a far-right political festival, The Mirror has reported. The Prime Minister used the taxpayer-funded aircraft to head to Rome.
Downing Street confirmed while Sunak travelled to Teeside via train to campaign in a marginal seat near his home, the jet flew there from London. The Ministerial code only allows government planes to be diverted for journeys "to or from party business or constituency visits", with exceptions only being made when the time factor is "critical".

It then picked the Prime Minister up on Saturday morning for his flight to Rome. This would incur extra costs for overnight accommodation for the jet’s RAF crew.
