Ridley Scott Defends Casting Al Pacino & Jared Leto in 'House of Gucci' Amid Gucci Family Statements

For 15 years filmmaker Ridley Scott wrestled with finding the perfect feature adaptation of Sara Gay Forden’s novel about the murder of Maurizio Gucci by ex-wife Patrizia Reggiani.  At one point Leonardo DiCaprio and Angelina Jolie were even circling the project. However, the 544-page book proved a challenge for several screenwriters.

An all-star cast including Lady Gaga, Jared Leto and Adam Driver star in the new crime drama House of Gucci but while the movie has received positive reviews, the Guccis themselves aren't too pleased. The film – based on the 2001 book The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour and Greed by Sara Gay Forden – peeks inside the life of the infamous Gucci family and how one ambitious woman triggers a spiral of betrayal, revenge and murder.
