Rick Ross’ company Wingstop fined for labour law violations

Rick Ross has been fined for labour law violations at five of his chicken wing company’s franchise locations in Mississippi.Among the violations, investigators found that the rapper’s company illegally forced employees to pay for their own uniforms, training, and background checks, covered till shortages from their own pocket (bringing their pay below minimum wage), and breaching child labour laws by allowing a 15-year-old employee to repeatedly work past 10pm.As a result Ross, via his business Boss Wings Enterprises LLC, has been forced to pay $114,427 (£950,000) in back wages, liquidated damages, and civil penalties, according to Pitchfork. The Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division District Director Audrey Hall said in a statement: “Restaurant industry employees work hard, often for low wages, and many depend on every dollar earned to make ends meet. The law prevents Boss Wing Enterprises LLC from shifting operating costs to workers by deducting the costs of uniforms, cash register shortages or training expenses, or to allow a worker’s pay to fall below the minimum wage rate.”The fine appears to have implications for Ross’s family, as sister Tawanda Roberts and mother Tommie Roberts are listed as the registered agents for the company in Mississippi.

Swizz Beatz and Timbaland Sue Triller, Seeking $28 Million for Verzuz Rap-Battle Deal

Todd Spangler NY Digital EditorSwizz Beatz and Timbaland have hauled short-form music video app Triller into court, with the pair of artists alleging Triller must pay them $28 million after acquiring Verzuz, their livestreaming rap-battle show. The duo founded the popular Verzuz virtual battle series in March 2020, then less than a year later agreed to sell it to Triller for undisclosed terms. Swizz and Timbaland received equity in Triller, part of which they said would be allocated among 43 artists who had appeared on Verzuz, including John Legend, Alicia Keys, 2 Chainz, Rick Ross, Too $hort, Patti LaBelle and Gucci Mane.According to the lawsuit, after Triller failed to make a large payment to Swizz (Kasseem Daoud Dean) and Timbaland (Timothy Mosley) in January 2022, the company agreed to a settlement requiring Triller to pay them $18 million ($9 million each) by March 20, with $1 million per month for the following 10 months.

Timbaland and Swizz Beatz sue Triller for £23million over ‘VERZUZ’ sale

Timbaland and Swizz Beatz have sued Triller for $28million (£23m) over claims of non-payment after the recent sale of their popular VERZUZ series.VERZUZ is the popular entertainment series that pits producers, songwriters and artists against each other in a rap battle style format.Kicking off in March 2020 after Timbaland and Swizz Beatz issued challenges to one another, artists that have taken part so far have included T-Pain, Alicia Keys, John Legend, Brandy, Monica, Rick Ross, DMX, Snoop Dogg, D’Angelo and many more.Last year, the rights for the series were sold to Triller, who livestream the events on their app.In a new lawsuit seen by Billboard, Timbaland and Swizz Beatz claim that Triller owe them £23m and have been defaulting in previously agreed payments. The suit goes on to claim that while the pair received payments as planned in January and April 2021, a payment that was due in January of this year has still not arrived.A new payment plan was then reportedly agreed, but the money from that has still not come through.Speaking about VERZUZ previously to NME, Timbaland said: “Well, it’s not really a battle – it’s a celebration of our heroes in music, the ones who make us feel a certain type of way.

50 Cent says Beyoncé ‘jumped’ him over Jay-Z feud: ‘She was ready to fight’

“Many Men” hitmaker said the rapper’s wife “jumped out” at him and “was ready to fight” after he stopped by to talk to her husband in Las Vegas many years ago.“She was on a window sill. We were in Vegas,” he recalled during Friday’s appearance on “The Breakfast Club.”The 47-year-old rapper said the “Break My Soul” singer “jumped out” and pulled a confrontational face at him.“And I’m like, ‘Wait, what is you doing? That’s me and Jay-Z’s stuff, this ain’t got nothing to do with you, girl,” 50 Cent told hosts Charlamagne Tha God and DJ Envy.Though his clash with the “Big Pimpin'” hitmaker never escalated into a full-blown feud — unlike his ever-lasting beef with Ja Rule and Rick Ross — the two rappers didn’t quite see eye-to-eye in the early 2000s.The rapper admitted he was taken aback by Beyoncé’s reaction to their quarrel.“I was like, ‘Oh, s–t!’ I didn’t really know what to do,” he recalled.
