Richard Osman’s replacement on popular quiz show Pointless has been revealed, after he announced he was leaving the show. Richard co-hosted the BBC show for 13 years, alongside Alexander Armstrong, however, in April, he revealed that he was leaving to focus on writing his books, such as The Thursday Murder Club which have become hugely popular.
Confirming the end of an era for TV fans, Richard said: "With the runaway success of the books around the world, something had to give.” He added: "I will always love Pointless and I will also watch it." Alexander is set to remain as a host on the show, and BBC has announced that, rather than replacing Richard with one person, a number of celebrity guest-hosts will appear alongside the remaining host. Some of the celebrities set to co-host include Sally Lindsay, Alex Brooker, Lauren Laverne, Stephen Mangan, Konnie Huq and Ed Gamble.
Speaking about the change, Alexander said: "This is going to be such a ride! Richard will still be in once a week on Saturdays to make sure everything’s ticking over nicely, but otherwise it’s just me bringing new Pointless friends in and showing them the ropes. Loads of new and fun personalities on the desk next to me.
