Joe Otterson TV Reporter Dallas Goldtooth has joined the cast of the upcoming Apple TV+ drama series “The Last Frontier,” Variety has learned exclusively. Goldtooth joins previously announced series lead Jason Clarke in the show as well as cast members Haley Bennett, Dominic Cooper, and Simone Kessell. Apple has given the show a 10-episode order.
Per the official description, the series “follows US Marshall Frank Remnick (Clarke), the lone Marshal in charge of the quiet, rugged barrens of Alaska, whose jurisdiction is turned upside-down when a prison transport plane crashes in the remote wilderness, setting free dozens of violent inmates. Tasked with protecting the town he’s vowed to keep safe, he begins to suspect the crash wasn’t an accident, but the first step of a well-crafted plan with international political implications.” Goldtooth will star as Hutch, the second in command US Marshall in a small Alaskan outpost. Goldtooth is perhaps best known for his role in the critically-acclaimed FX series “Reservation Dogs,” on which he starred throughout the show’s three season run.
He also served as a writer on the series, which aired its final season in 2023. He also recently appeared in the Marvel series “Echo.” His other credits include the Peacock comedy “Rutherford Falls” and guest appearances on shows like “Ghosts” and “Drunk History.” He is also a co-founder of the Native American sketch comedy group The 1491s and a well-known environmental activist. He is repped Mosaic and Hirsch Wallerstein.
“The Last Frontier” hails from creators Jon Bokenkamp and Richard D’Ovidio. Both serve as executive producers alongside Clarke. Sam Hargrave will direct the pilot and executive produce.

Joe Otterson TV Reporter Yvonne Strahovski has been tapped for the lead role in the upcoming Peacock series “Teacup.” Described as a horror thriller, “Teacup” hails from writer Ian McCulloch with James Wan and Atomic Monster attached to executive produce. Inspired by the Robert McCammon novel “Stinger,” the series is said to follow “a disparate group of people in rural Georgia who must come together in the face of a mysterious threat in order to survive.” Strahovski will star as Maggie Chenoweth. Strahovski has received two Emmy Award nominations for her work on Hulu’s “The Handmaid’s Tale,” on which she has starred as Serena Joy Waterford since the show began.

Joe Otterson TV Reporter Amazon Prime Video has ordered a drama series based on the comic book “El Gato Negro” by Richard Dominguez, Variety has learned. The series, currently titled “El Gato,” will be shot in both English and Spanish. Diego Boneta is attached to star, with Eric Carrasco adapting the comic book for the screen.

Joe Otterson TV Reporter NBC has ordered a drama pilot from Jenna Bans and Bill Krebs. The project is titled “Grosse Pointe Garden Society.” The official logline reads, “Four members of a suburban garden club, all from different walks of life, get caught up in murder and mischief as they struggle to make their conventional lives bloom.” Bans and Krebs serve as writers and executive producers on the pilot. Bans will executive produce under her Minnesota Logging Company banner along with Casey Kyber.
