Amazon Orders Drama Series Based on Comic Book ‘El Gato Negro,’ Diego Boneta to Star

EXCLUSIVE: The Fall of the House of Usher standout Willa Fitzgerald and The Continental star Colin Woodell have been tapped as the leads of Pulse, Netflix‘s first original medical procedural. They join previously cast Justina Machado in the drama series from first-time creator Zoe Robyn who serves as showrunner and executive producer alongside veteran Carlton Cuse.

EXCLUSIVE: After eight and a half years as SVP Drama Series at HBO, Nora Skinner is gong to Netflix where she will be VP in the streamer’s drama series team. Based at Netflix’s Los Angeles headquarters, Skinner, a former film producer and executive, will start at the end of May, reporting to Jinny Howe, Netflix’s VP of Drama Series.

Montana Jordan and Emily Osment will reprise their roles in the untitled series, which will follow Georgie and Mandy as they raise their family in Texas. Unlike “Young Sheldon,” the series will be a multi-camera comedy as opposed to a single-cam.

Its first project, “Clipperton,” is based on best-selling Colombian author Laura Restrepo’s novel “The Isle of Passion.” “Clipperton” follows the true story of a group of Mexican castaways stranded on a remote island who must try to survive while maintaining their relationships. The new division’s goal is to produce premium, scripted television and features for mainstream U.S.

A Friday afternoon surprise from Ryan Murphy. The prolific creator, writer, director and producer unexpectedly announced a new series on Instagram — a horror drama titled Grotesquerie, starring Niecy Nash-Betts, Courtney B. Vance and Lesley Manville. He also dropped a teaser for the series which is expected to start production soon for a fall premiere at FX. You can watch below.
