A Scots GP was caught drink driving in a Tesco car park after plain-clothes officers spotted him reversing into a bollard.
Dr Murray Gordon Will was found to be almost three times the legal limit when he was breath tested outside the Glasgow supermarket on November 28, 2020.
Upon speaking to him, officers noticed his speech was slurred and his eyes glazed after his vehicle initially came to their attention due to the manner of his driving.
He was cautioned and charged at Stewart Street police station before appearing at Glasgow Sheriff Court on January 5, 2021.
The 37-year-old was handed a 15 month driving ban and a £335 fine after pleading guilty to driving under the influence.
Will has racked up a string of driving offences including falling asleep behind the wheel while doing 60mph on the M77 and using a mobile phone while driving.
He was previously handed a road ban after being caught doing 96mph on a dual carriageway near Kilmarnock in May 2014.
Following a hearing in December, The Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service has now banned the GP from practising for six months as a result of his latest conviction.
The tribunal found that while Will, a GP at the Morgan Glen Surgery in Larkhall, had apologised, he continued to show limited insight into the consequences of his actions.
In a decision notice, they said: “As matters stand, this Tribunal is of the view that Dr Will’s insight is currently limited and is insufficient to prevent a repetition of such dangerous risk-taking behaviour.
“The Tribunal was concerned by Dr Will’s comments, to Dr Fiona Watson, which suggested that he viewed his drink driving conviction and involvement in regulatory proceedings as ‘unlucky’.
