The Razzie Awards will no longer be giving a “special award” to Bruce Willis following the actor’s diagnosis with aphasia.
During the awards show this past weekend, there was a special category for “Worst Performance by Bruce Willis in a 2021 Movie.” He appeared in eight low-budget films last year and he was nominated for all of them, ultimately “winning” for Cosmic Sin.
Following the news that Bruce has been struggling with aphasia for the past year, the Razzies decided that they would still be giving him the award. Their original response to the news was, “The Razzies are truly sorry for #BruceWillis diagnosed condition. Perhaps this explains why he wanted to go out with a bang in 2021. Our best wishes to Bruce and family.”
After a lot of backlash, the Razzie Awards organization reversed course and made a new statement.

“After much thought and consideration, the Razzies have made the decision to rescind the Razzie Award given to Bruce Willis, due to his recently disclosed diagnosis,” the organization said in a statement (via Daily News). “If someone’s medical condition is a factor in their decision making and/or their performance, we acknowledge that it is not appropriate to give them a Razzie.”
