According to a royal expert, Queen Elizabeth has a “big thing planned” for Prince William’s 40th birthday this summer. William will turn 40 on 21 June, not long after the Queen celebrates her Platinum Jubilee. The Prince’s birthday will be the second 40th the Royals are celebrating this year after Kate Middleton marked the milestone on 9 January.
Royal expert Christopher Andersen, author of The Brothers and Wives: Inside the Private Lives of William, Kate, Harry, and Meghan, told Us Weekly of the Queen’s plans. He said: “The Queen has a big thing planned for [William] and he is going to throw something as well." “There will be big parties again, if Covid allows anything like that to happen,” he added. Meanwhile, Kate’s celebrations were much more low-key, and were planned by her husband and their three children, George, eight, Charlotte, six, and Louis, three, who hosted the event at the couple’s Anmer Hall estate with other family members and friends.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were not at the party, but are thought to have video chatted with Kate on her special day. “They did a video call,” Christopher told Us Weekly last month. “They wished her a happy birthday.

Noting how the Sussex’s paid tribute to Kate on social media on her 38th birthday, Christopher added: “Harry and Megan were not about to post anything the way they did two years ago. This time everything was kept private.” Kate went out of her way to make William’s 39th birthday special last year in light of the hardships the pandemic brought.
