Queen Elizabeth II will be buried with just two significant pieces of jewellery, according to royal experts. Her Majesty passed away age 96 on 8 September at Balmoral Castle and her state funeral is set to take place on Monday 19 September at Westminster Abbey.
Following the funeral, the Queen's coffin will be taken to Windsor and she will be buried alongside her parents and her late husband, Prince Philip, who passed away in April 2021. Despite having over 300 items in her personal jewellery collection, it's predicted that Her Majesty will be buried with just two special pieces of jewellery - her Welsh gold wedding band and a pair of pearl earrings.
Lisa Levinson, head of communications at the Natural Diamond Council, believes these two pieces of jewellery will be the only items buried with Her Majesty. Speaking to Metro, Lisa explained: "Her Majesty is an incredibly humble woman at heart who is unlikely to be dressed in anything but her simple Welsh gold wedding band to rest and a pair of pearl earrings." The Queen's engagement ring, which belonged to Prince Philip’s mother Princess Alice of Battenberg, will likely be given to her daughter, Princess Anne, 72.
“The young Prince Philip was closely involved in the design of Elizabeth’s engagement ring, which is set in platinum and has eleven natural diamonds – a three-carat round solitaire diamond, and five smaller stones set on each side,” Lisa explained. “Her Majesty’s life has always been about the legacy of the royal family, in the UK and Commonwealth; her jewels form very much part of that legacy.” OK!'s commemorative special edition This 100 page tribute looks back at the life of our most beloved monarch, Queen Elizabeth II, marking key events during her remarkable
