Queen Elizabeth’s name has been inscribed on a black marble slab alongside those of her husband Prince Philip’s and her parents to mark the monarch’s final resting place. The first photograph of the simple memorial was passed to the Mail Online by a member of the public who took it inside the King George VI memorial chapel. A previous image of the black Belgian marble from 2002 only showed gold lettering for George VI and the Queen Mother along with the dates of their birth and deaths.

The Prince Harry and Meghan Markle drama continued into the weekend as it wasn’t clear if the Sussexes would be attending a pre-funeral reception at Buckingham Palace on the eve of Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral.  The Duke and Duchess of Sussex – who settled in California after stepping down as senior royals in 2020 – reportedly initially received an invitation to the Sunday evening reception, but conflicting reports said they were and weren’t expected to attend.  According to the Telegraph, they have now been uninvited because palace officials insisted that the reception hosted by King Charles III and Camilla, the queen consort, is only for working royals, which Harry and Meghan are not. As the Queen’s coffin made its way to Westminster Hall from Buckingham Palace with the Royal Family in tow, many noticed that Prince Harry and Prince Andrew failed to salute during the late monarch's coffin procession. It’s since come to light that the two royals were reportedly forbidden from saluting, and were told to bow their heads to show their respect instead.This comes because Harry and Andrew were not in military uniform, unlike the likes of Princess Anne, Prince William and King Charles III.The pair wore morning suits for the sad affair rather than uniform as they are no longer working royals. In addition to this, Prince Andrew was stripped of his military titles last year but retained his rank as a Vice Admira.

King Charles III waited for Queen Elizabeth II's casket to arrive at Buckingham Palace with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle directly behind him on a staircase Tuesday evening in London. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex arrived at the palace shortly before the queen's casket, and only after it made the journey from the RAF Northolt air station in Ruislip.
