Queen Camilla puts on brave face at engagement ahead of King Charles' operation

Queen Camilla was all smiles as she headed to Jenni's House refuge in Swindon on Monday 22 January, despite husband King Charles' upcoming medical operation. The Queen Consort, 76, appeared to be in good spirits during the visit, which she made to mark the 50th anniversary of the Swindon Domestic Abuse Support Serice (SDASS). Camilla met staff, volunteers, families and partner agencies at the refuge.
She wrapped up warm in a light brown coat with a high collar, paired with a jumper and white shirt, along with a statement tartan pleated skirt.
The royal wore black boots and accessorised with small earrings. Camilla stood up in front of guests and gave a speech while unveiling a plaque in honour of the beneficiaries during her visit to the women's refuge. She was also gifted a bouquet of colourful flowers at the centre.
In a video posted to X, Camilla wished the charity a happy birthday, saying: "I wish you all a very happy 50th birthday and to say a huge thank you for the brilliant job you're doing here on domestic abuse. I've visited a lot of refugees over the years but I can see there's something very special here and you're doing such a wonderful job in so many walks of life." She added: "Em you seem to be getting in to every where - which is what is needed. It's not just looking after the victims or the children.
It's getting into schools, teaching young people, teaching them respect and working with perpetrators too. "And as you say who knows in 50 years we might be able to prevent this horrific abuse and suffering." She concluded: "So thank you all very much for playing a wonderful part on the road to obliterating abuse forever. So thank you very much indeed."
