A teenager has been charged in connection with an alleged assault on a pupil at the trouble-hit Bannerman High School in Glasgow.
Police launched a probe after receiving reports of a girl being assaulted at the education hub in the city’s Baillieston.
A 13-year-old girl has now been reported over the incident, which allegedly took place on Tuesday, December 6. She has been referred to the Scottish Children’s Reporters Administration, Police Scotland have confirmed.
A statement from the force said: “Officers received a report of a pupil being assaulted at a school in Glasgow on Tuesday, 6 December, 2022. Enquiries were carried out and a 13-year-old girl was charged in connection.
“She was the subject of a report to the Scottish Children's Reporters Administration."
Meanwhile, teachers at the Glasgow school took part in strike action last month over the alleged violent and abusive behaviour of students. A three day walkout was staged with an additional eight days of action planned to take place throughout December.
The NASUWT teachers’ union claim educators have been ‘shoved and threatened’ by a certain group of learners at the school. And they allege that a student ‘brandished’ a screwdriver on the premises - sparking safety fears amongst their members.
