Design proposals for the new Dumfries High School will be on display at a public consultation tomorrow.
The drop-in session from 2pm-7pm will give people a chance to state their views on the plans and ask questions before a formal application is submitted.
Head teacher Phil Cubbon said: “Over the last few months, parents, pupils, staff and the wider community within Dumfries High School had an opportunity to put forward ideas, opinions and thoughts about what our brand new facility should look like when it comes to open in 2025.
“The feedback gathered from all our stakeholders and the wider community will all be put together to ensure that our new school is the best it could possibly be.
“Throughout the design process to this point staff had an opportunity to visit other schools to learn from their experiences. This has enabled everyone to witness and talk to members of staff who have gone through a similar process.
“It has been fantastic in a sense that it has challenged their thinking to make sure that the facility we are getting at Dumfries High School will be of the highest quality.”
In recent months design workshops have taken place looking at different aspects of the campus including the classrooms, the school environment and access to the building.
Mr Cubbon added: “We want the new school to deliver the very best teaching and learning experiences for all our young people. This is why it is important that as many people as possible come along and look at the proposals, meet the team and ask any questions they have.”
The new build project will be funded by around £33.9m, including contributions from the Scottish Government’s Learning Estates Investment Program and Council capital investment.
