Fans of Two Doors Down have been left divided over the new series of the hit Scots sitcom as some blast it 'absolutely terrible'.
Beth and Eric, played by Arabella Weir and Alex Norton, and Christine, who is played by Elaine C. Smith, returned to BBC Two on Wednesday night. The first episode of series six saw Colin, played by Jonathan Watson, in a vulnerable state after being unceremoniously dumped.
Doon Mackichan, who played Cathy, announced earlier this year that she was leaving the show to focus on other things.
Despite a number of brutal one-liners and cheeky remarks from Christine to her neighbours, that wasn't enough to keep everyone watching at home amused.
Many fans were quick to take to social media to express their disappointment, however, not everyone felt like that as others were left in stitches.
"How to kill a successful comedy..... Absolutely terrible," said one.
Another wrote: "I don't know what folk want to happen in these eps - never happy. I loved it didn't miss Cathy at all."
A third commented: "Vast improvement on series 5. Cathy was starting to get on my t***. Colin is better rid."
Another wrote: "It is very difficult when a long established sitcom loses a strong central character."
A fifth said: "It was pretty terrible. I hope the other episodes are funnier."
Siobhan Redmond will become a feature of the sitcom as Colin's new lover from episode three.
Two Doors Down returns to BBC Two on Wednesday November 16, at 10pm.
