Patrick Frater Asia Bureau Chief “Women of My Billion (WOMB),” a documentary produced by Priyanka Chopra Jonas, will play on Prime Video from May 3. Directed by Ajitesh Sharma, “WOMB” follows the journey of Srishti Bakshi, as she embarked on a walking pilgrimage from Kanyakumari to Kashmir, India, spanning 3,800 kms (2,360 miles) over 240 days, with a mission to find and share stories about women, their struggles, dreams, rights, and their wins, against all odds.
“Women have borne the brunt of gender bias for far too long, enduring a silent struggle against entrenched social injustices that seek to suppress their voices.
With ‘WOMB’, the aim is to transcend these struggles – to be a beacon of hope,” said Chopra Jonas. “’WOMB’ is not merely a depiction of pain and suffering, but a rallying cry and call for solidarity and action.
We hope this film takes us a step closer to a world where every woman is appreciated, honored, and empowered to soar.”
The documentary is produced by Chopra Jonas under her Purple Pebble Pictures label and by Apoorva Bakshi and Monisha Thyagarajan‘s Awedacious Originals.
Ricky Ow, one of the biggest names in Asian television has joined the board of Singapore-based streamer Viddsee.
Ow, has a career that spans successful stints WarnerMedia, Turner and Sony Pictures. “He brings to Viddsee a deep understanding of the media landscape, particularly in areas of market development, content production and IP investment,” the company said.
Viddsee “has evolved from a platform primarily focused on showcasing short form content with a network of storytellers, to placing a stronger emphasis on the production of award-winning original content and expansive brand campaigns.
