Prince Harry has made a surprise trip to Mozambique ahead of his and Meghan Markle’s upcoming trip to the UK.The Duke of Sussex, 37, made the solo trip without Meghan or his children Archie, three, or Lilibet, one, for a short visit to the country in his capacity as president of African Parks. According to the Duke’s spokesperson, Harry was on the trip to welcome and co-host a group of US officials, conservationists and philanthropists earlier this week as they toured protected wildlife and nature areas. The Duke’s trip was not formally announced before the journey, however in photos shared online of the visit, Harry can be seen wearing a grey polo shirt, sports cap and navy shorts.
In one snap posted by author Eric Morier-Genoud on Twitter, the royal could be seen posing for a photo with another man as he undertook his business trip. A source told MailOnline Harry flew to Heathrow on Sunday 14 August, before changing to a connecting flight to Johannesburg.
It’s not the Duke’s first visit to Mozambique - in 2010, he made a secret visit to the country where he joined British charity The Halo Trust. Harry’s trip comes after the news that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are to visit the UK next month to attend charity events.
They will also visit Germany as part of their trip to support “several charities close to their hearts”, their spokesperson said earlier this week. The couple will travel to Manchester for the One Young World Summit, an event which brings together young leaders from more than 190 countries, on 5 September.
The Duchess of Sussex is a counsellor for the organisation, alongside Justin Trudeau, Sir Richard Branson, and Jamie Oliver , among others. They will then head to Germany for the Invictus Games
