Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's rift with the royal family was threatened to deepen this week after a new interview with former actress Meghan was released. In a bombshell chat with The Cut, The Duchess of Sussex discussed her husband's dynamic with his father Prince Charles following their departure as senior Royals and move to the US in 2020, suggesting the pair had ‘lost’ connection since.
Addressing her broken relationship with her dad Thomas Markle, Meghan, 41, indicated the same disconnection had taken place between her husband Harry and his father. She said: “Harry said to me, ‘I lost my dad in this process.’ It doesn’t have to be the same for them as it was for me, but that’s his decision.” Following the interview, though, a source close to Prince Charles, 73, has said he would be "saddened" if he lost his relationship with Harry.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, the source said: “The Prince of Wales loves both his sons.” In the 6,400 word interview with New York features writer Allison P Davis, Meghan also opened up about how displeasing she felt her union with Harry was to the Royal Family. “Just by existing, we were upsetting the dynamic of the hierarchy," she said.
While Harry then added: “Most people that I know and many of my family, they aren't able to work and live together.” Since leaving their royal positions, Meghan and Harry have given a selection of interviews, speaking on their broken relationship with the Windsors, starting with the now infamous chat with US host Oprah Winfrey. In this discussion, Meghan revealed how she felt was subjected to racism and general mistreatment by the royals, which Harry also acknowledged.
