As a Brit, the Fourth of July likely isn’t a holiday that Prince Harry would normally celebrate. However, it is special to him thanks to its connection to his relationship with Meghan Markle.
As Americans across the country let off fireworks and celebrate with a day off work, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are likely reminded of their second date, which took place on the holiday.
On that date, they had a pivotal conversation that set them on the path to being happily married with two children in 2023!

People noted that Prince Harry revealed the information about the couple’s second date in his memoir Spare, which was released earlier this year.
In it, he explained that the date took place on the 4th, only one day after they had their first date. He fondly recalled bringing Meghan cupcakes and feeling the instant spark between them.
As it turns out, it was a formative date for them.
“As the night neared its end we had a very frank discussion. There was no way round it. She put a hand to her cheek and said: What’re we gonna doooo,” he recalled, with the Prince adding that he wanted to give a long-distance relationship “a proper go.”
Of course, seven years later, we all know how that worked out!
