In fact, while visiting the Invictus Games in the Netherlands, Meghan Markle has admitted that she and Prince Harry nearly gave their son Archie a different first name.
Though the Duke and Duchess of Sussex knew that they wanted to use both Archie and Harrison, 40-year-old Meghan revealed that they couldn’t decide which to use as his first name. Speaking to PA news agency, Invictus Games competitor and Royal Air Force nursing officer Sherry McBain explained that her wife discussed baby names with Meghan after she’d told the royal that her son was called Harrison.
“[Meghan] was like ‘Harrison, that’s Archie’s middle name’, and Mandy was like ‘Yeah, I know’,” said Sherry. “They were just having a chat because Harry and Meghan couldn’t decide between Archie and Harrison for the first name.” Despite the couple’s indecision, they eventually settled on calling their son Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor following his birth in May 2019. While Archie does not have any royal connotations, the name stems from Archibald meaning "genuine", "bold" or "brave".
