Prince Andrew and Virginia Giuffre have reached a settlement out of court in the US civil sex claim filed against the royal.
In a letter submitted to the United States District Court on Tuesday, Ms Giuffre’s lawyer David Boies wrote jointly with Andrew’s lawyers to say that the parties had “reached a settlement in principle”.
Ms Giuffre, also known as Virginia Roberts, is suing Prince Andrew for damages.
Prince Andrew has strenuously denied all allegations.
She claims she was trafficked by Jeffrey Epstein, the duke’s friend, to have sex with him when she was 17, a minor under US law.

“Prince Andrew intends to make a substantial donation to Ms. Giuffre’s charity in support of victims’ rights.
“Prince Andrew has never intended to malign Ms Giuffre’s character, and he accepts that she has suffered both as an established victim of abuse and as a result of unfair public attacks.
“It is known that Jeffrey Epstein trafficked countless young girls over many years. Prince Andrew regrets his association with Epstein, and commends the bravery of Ms Giuffre and other survivors in standing up for themselves and others.
