Primark has added a new security measure when shoppers check their items out at tills - and it has left some people angry. The budget retailer is cracking down on theft in some of their stores by sealing up its paper carrier bags with blue ‘sold’ stickers.
The new security tactic will be trialled in several Primark stores across the UK, and bosses will be “monitoring” its impact.
A spokesperson for Primark has said: "Antisocial behaviour and retail crime is rising right across the retail industry and we’re working with other retailers and organisations to help tackle this.
"We have a range of security measures in place in our stores and we’re now also trialling some new measures to help prevent stock loss, which includes sealing bags with ‘Sold’ stickers once a customer pays for their items at the tills.

"We’ll be keeping an eye on this and monitoring the impact these new measures have, listening to feedback from our colleagues and customers."
As it is a security measure, the spokesperson added Primark would not be disclosing which of their stores are trialling the scheme .
However Primark shoppers have been quick to react to the new feature, with many claiming it is "wasteful" and "makes queues longer."
Theresa wrote on social media site X, saying: "@Primark went to your Luton store today. Bad idea to put PLASTIC security stickers on the paper carrier bags. This means you can’t reuse the bag as it rips. Makes queues longer. Do you intend to challenge everyone in store who refuses the stickers like I did?"
Another X user said: "@Primark absolutely disgusted with this ridiculous policy of using plastic non-recyclable stickers on paper bags

He also used ‘Tubthumping’s song’s lyrics at the end of the address, telling the audience “we got knocked down, but we got up again.”“Chumbawamba wrote the song Tubthumping as a song of hope and positivity, so it seems entirely odd that the ‘I get knocked down…’ refrain is being used by New Zealand’s Deputy Prime Minister Winston Peters as he barks his divisive, small-minded, bigoted policies during his recent speeches,” said the band’s former lead guitarist Boff Whalley in a statement sent to BBC News.He continued: “Chumbawamba would like to make it clear that we did not give permission for Peters to use the song and would ask him to stop using it to try to shore up his misguided political views.“Chumbawamba does not share any of Peters’ ideas on race relations and would like to remind him that the song was written for and about ordinary people and their resilience.
